Selecting Carpet That Best Suits Your Lifestyle

Whenever you select carpet for your home make sure you consider many aesthetic as well as technical areas.  You will find over hundreds of thousands styles and colors being released into the market every year, choosing the right carpet to match your needs can be a very daunting task indeed.

Carpets are available in several different textures, materials, colors, and designs which will best suit virtually any interior design that you can imagine. The combination of different textures and colors will complement the look of both formal and casual ambience, while helping to compliment to the overall room designs.

You should also consider the amount of traffic that the carpet can withstand and the where you are going to use it before selecting any carpet. The construction and the texture are both key aspects when you select a carpet for a specified area and use.

You get carpets in different materials and nylon, polyester, and olefin are the mostly widely used fibers with carpet manufacturing, with each one having qualities that make themselves different with their specific applications and uses. Nylon is soft and resilient, which makes it great for any room in your home, including those areas that have a high level of traffic.

Polyester features include its soft “hand’, inherent and stain resistance, and ability to produce bright colors. Other features include good abrasion resistance, fade resistance, and clean ability.

Olefin (polypropylene) is used where resistance to sunlight fading and chemicals is more important than durability to traffic.  Olefin is only available as a solution dyed BCF fiber, is colorfast, resists fading, generates low levels of static electricity and is resistant to acid-based stains.

You can find carpet styles like plush or Berber construction.  The berber type of carpets are well constructed with a continuous level loop, while plush carpets are constructed of loops that have been sheared, which results in the strands standing upright.

Berber construction carpets tend to not crush or mat as much, due to their level loops.  They are however harder underfoot to feel, not as soft to sit on or lay down on, and moreover they can easily get damaged by pets with long nails. Berber carpets are well suited for high traffic areas.

If you are looking for a carpet with low pile and low crushing… selecting nylon fiber paired with a tight low pile construction is recommended.

The life of a carpet is anywhere between 5 30 years, depending on the fiber, wear and how often you vacuum and clean it.  Most all carpet warranties will require the installation of new carpet padding as well at the time of installation in order for the warranty to become valid.

Finding The Right Carpet For Your Home

If you visit any of the carpet stores, youll find yourself astonished looking at all of the choices that are there for you to pick from.  Youll come across textured rich carpets, saxony carpets, berber carpets, and even commercial grade carpets.  There are carpets that can be installed from wall to wall, and carpets that can be cut down to size with bound edges and carpet squares.

Your initial thought while purchasing a new carpet should not be the color, even though it is important. Your first thought must be how much traffic you are going to have on that carpet.  If you plan to put carpet in the bedroom, then it wont have as much traffic as carpet in the living room.

Stain proof carpets is also important to think about. This is something to consider with any carpet, particularly carpet that is going to be used in a dining room or play room area where there will be a solid stream of food or high possibilities for spills.

Youll also need to make inquiries about the rating of the carpet as well.  Indoor carpeting is usually rated on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the top most rating.  Carpets with a 5 rating are deemed as the best for intense traffic areas.  Rating of 4 are also considered as outstanding and suggested for heavy traffic areas of your home.

Ratings of 2.5 to 4 would provide average durability for your home.  Carpet flooring which has a rating of 2.5 or lower should only be used with light traffic areas, such as bedrooms, reading rooms etc.  Choosing carpet based on the type of traffic it can handle will help you save a lot of money down the road, even though you should buy carpet suitable for your needs and requirements.

Another choice is carpet made of olefin. It is also a great choice for high traffic areas as it is very strong and easy to clean. Polyester is another good carpet.

You must also have some consideration about the color. Light colored carpets build an effect of a larger space, even though they have a tendency to show stains more easily.  Darker carpets on the other hand tend to absorb light, giving a cozy feeling.

Why You Need To Buy Yourself Berber Carpet

Everyone knows about Berber carpet and just how great it can be to install it in a home. This carpet was named after a hand made bulky wool that was textured and used by a tribe in parts of North Africa, the Berber Tribe. The Berber carpet that is used even today follows the same tradition of the tribe by using flecked bulky yarns to create a beautiful carpet.
